Most people nowadays buy all their food at a typical chain grocery store. They go in, select the product, scan the barcode at the register, and take their food home with them. This photo for an advertisement of a film called Food Inc. illustrates the transactional process of acquiring food. It does this by putting a barcode across a cow, as well as using the title itself which is "Food Inc," showing that food is just part of a corporation.
This message contains a lot of relevance to today's world. Compared to prior generations, most people today have no connection with where their food comes from. Instead of picking an apple from a tree, we buy it from the supermarket in a transactional process. This goes for any other type of food we consume on a daily basis. Instead of baking bread, people will buy a loaf. Instead of having chickens, people buy a carton of eggs from the store. This photo represents by and large, the relationship that people in westernized countries have with their food today.
