Humor is one of the best ways to capture an audience and this AllState commercial does just that. The ad shows a man acting like a cat. Throughout the advertisement, he does various destructive actions that a cat would do, such as knocking cups off of a table. This also shows that the author of the ad is using relatability. Anyone who has a cat knows how destructive they can be, and how much damage they sometimes cause to your house and belongings. This is even over exaggerated a bit when the ceiling is shown collapsing due to a flooded bathroom. Around this time is when the idea of homeowners insurance is brought up.

The viewer sees all of these horrible things happening to the house and probably thinks how they would never want that happening to them. They might be wondering what they would do in that situation. The introduction to the idea of homeowners insurance pops up at around the time the viewer would be thinking these things, which automatically offers a sensible solution to their problem. The viewer learns that if they get AllState's homeowners insurance, they will be covered if any of these tragic events happen to them.

AllState did a great job of using humor and relatability to capture the viewers attention, while making the purchase of their product seem like the most logical solution and the most sensible option.
