Entry #3: Small Edible Disks

Image
It was early afternoon and I had just finished my lunch. I needed something to cleanse my palette, and liven me for the rest of the day. I pulled out the small plastic box in my pocket that I had been saving for later. I tug at the plastic and then flip the lid open. After rotating it so that the opening was facing my palm, I tilt the container and begin shaking it. I made a few rigorous shakes and one of these small disks landed in my palm. I brought it to my mouth and closed my lips around it. This experience is something to savor, so I don't chew. Instead, I let the flavor wash over me, feeling refreshed. I continue with my work, sorting out papers and documents, all while feeling this piece of a wintergreen forest dissolve in my mouth. I am so grateful that I have an entire box more of them for when I finish this one. I bite down on the hard disk, exploding waves of an ice cold river sprinkled with sugar across my senses. I suck out the invigorating flavor from the small pieces...

Entry #2: Sedona

When you think of the best tourist destinations as an American, what usually comes to mind? Many people may picture somewhere exotic such as Paris, Turks and Caicos, or even Greece. However, you don't need to grab your passport and hop on a plane to experience new and amazing sights. Many of the world's greatest places are just a day trip away.  One such place is Sedona, located around 2 hours north of Phoenix. Filled with both forests and the majestic red rocks, Sedona offers some amazing natural sights and activities.   Image Source During my first stay in Sedona, I stayed in an Airbnb camper by the mountains. I recommend staying in a camper, or even full fledged camping on a campsite if you are an experienced outdoor person. Taking a more nature oriented approach for your chosen accommodation will allow you to experience the full beauty of the small place in Arizona. In fact, sitting in my camper while watching the sun set over the mountains was the most memorable mome...

Entry #1: Gardening

Image
One hobby that I’ve found myself delving into lately has been gardening. My interest in gardening was first piqued when learning about tiny homes, homesteading and an off grid lifestyle. Despite a completely off grid lifestyle not being feasible any time soon, I knew that I could at least begin growing my own plants.  Most people living in a city, such as myself, don't have acres upon acres of land. Therefore, a full harvest and a wide array of crops would be out of the question. Instead, I had to make do with indoor space. I started off with a typical tomato plant from Lowe's. After keeping it alive for a week, I then branched out to a basil and pepper plant. All of these were indoor of course, otherwise the heat would have scorched them.  I continued to experiment with growing cilantro, strawberries, rosemary, and berry bushes. It was much easier than I thought! As long as you know the needs of each plant (such as soil acidity level, sunlight requirements, and nutrient requi...

Entry #0: Blog Opinions

Image
Being part of the first generation to grow up with technology at my fingertips, I’ve spend most of my life connected to the internet in some way, from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and even blogs. I used to read a few blogs, but I think that  overall, blogs are beginning to lose popularity due the the rise of video sharing and social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. Many people, including myself, find it easier to watch a quick video on a topic rather than to read an entire blog page. Personally, I prefer these social platforms as well because I am a more visual learner. However, this hasn’t stopped me from exploring what a well written blog has to offer. One blog I read that I particularly enjoyed was The Blonde Abroad . I liked how the blog was organized in different ways. You are able to browse based on travel location such as (Peru, Iceland, Colombia) or by the type of travel (solo, female, luxury, budget). This makes it very easy for readers to find exactly...
