Entry #7: Fresh

Recently, I watched a film titled “Fresh.” It encapsulated many of the intricacies we face today regarding our food supply. Different people were seen in this video including farmers, and other professionals working in the food industry. It went over the process of how our food is produced, including the use of pesticides and chemicals. It also explained some of the hardships and difficulties that many farmers face.


The most relevant part of this movie to most viewers is the topic of pesticide use. One dilemma in the movie was how certain chemicals ensure crop success, and make it so that we can produce the amount of food we need. Sometimes without these chemicals, it can be more difficult to have a stable food supply. We have many, many people to feed, so any type of crop failure or food shortage would be disastrous. This documentary creates a good point that despite the negativity surrounding pesticides and chemically treated produce, there is a point and a purpose to it that benefits society. Overall, this movie did a great job delving into both well known and lesser known aspects of our food supply.

Entry #4: A Salty Decoration

I’m  sure everyone has heard of Himalayan salt. It's those small, sparkly pink granules almost resembling crystals that you can grind up and sprinkle on your favorite dishes. Oftentimes, it also comes pre-ground and looks like pink sand. However, culinary usage is not the only purpose this salt has. Entry #5: AllState Mayhem Advertisement

Throughout the advertisement, he does various destructive actions that a cat would do, such as knocking cups off of a table. This also shows that the author of the ad is using relatability. Anyone who has a cat knows how destructive they can be, and how much damage they sometimes cause to your house and belongings. This is even over exaggerated a bit when the ceiling is shown collapsing due to a flooded bathroom.
